Fuel Injected Performance Kit, Its a type of airfilter for fuel injected engines...it really helps on just about all applications to my experience... in other words, just a fancy airfilter.
Desperado, you're pretty much on the money again my friend. About the only thing I could really add is that it replaces the airflow muffler and junk and that ragidy factory tube with a smooth cold air intake tube. Some actually have the spin inside the entire tube producing a spin on the air. But the FIPK that most people are referring to I believe is the one from K&N with just the smooth tube. Hope this helps some.
FIPK = $200-$250 less in your wallet (plus atx, shipping and handling) you will notice increased intake noise and not much else this is uless you have a Powerstroke diesel or an older model gas engine (96 or older) with a pretty restrictive factory intake.
They have their supporters but I still say 5 HP at 5000 RPM isn't much of a gain when you are installing it in a 5000 lbs truck that spends most of its life in the 1500 RPM to 3500 RPM range
sorry guys I couldn't resist doing this, I'm still saving for the Kenne Bell Supercharger (100 HP and 150 lbs ft were you need it)
I added it to my 1990 F-150 (300 6 cylinder). It was $140 at Summit, and made the truck accelerate much better than it did with the stock stuff. My truck dogged down on all hills when towing my car and trailer. Now it only dogs down on the long steep hills....
