golfer - i would get a box that is made for underneath the rear seat vs. a 'universal' box. will look and fit better. def. get the kicker over the pioneer if you want to spend the extra bucks. are you planning on a new amp or the one you have for you door speakers?
I agree with J_C. I like to hear the speakers before I puchase them. I havent heard of them until you just talked about them. They appear to be a nice speaker though.
I have 2 of the Pioneer - 8" Premire Shallow Sub model # TS-SW841D mounted in a custom box with the 1.2kw amp under the driver-side seat of my '06 extended cab. The 10" & 12" single would not fit without extending out past the front of the seat when you used the manf. required cube inches of dead space. They also mounted the speakers facing down to help with the fit.
The sound is awsome and eventually I'll get the money together to replace the stock 6 disc head unit. ICK!!!
smoking deal, but only one thing wrong with that combo... the amp should be bigger than the sub. I've yet to see a speaker blown up from too much power pushed thru, but i've seen plenty of speakers blown up due to distorsion pushed thru. for a 400watt rms sub (which for a shallow mount like that sounds kinda over rated honestly, but assuming that's on the money) i'd get a 450-500 watt rms amp... won't overheat that easy and won't distort trying to push the sub to it's limits... just my 2 cents
