I Have a 1999 f150 4x4 with a 5.4....i just bought the truck and when it has been sitting a couple hours and i go to start it it turns over more than it should before it starts. if it hasent sit long it starts fine...any ideas??
Sounds like a bad IAC. Try pushing down on the gas peddle a bit while cranking the engine over. Does it start better this way? Could also have a problem with a clogged fuel filter or a leaky injector. Good luck!
That Seemed to help but then agian it dident do it all the time so cant tell yet...but if it was a leacky injector wouldent it idle rough? it idles and runs just fine
I'd be more inclined to think you've lost fuel pressure prime any you have either a clogged fuel filter or a weak pump that won't prime the system quickly.
I'd replace the fuel filter as a maintenance item anyway since you just bought the truck.
might try cleaning the intake with a BG product. it is injected through the intake for 10 mins and cleans the intake cats and the vavles. mine ran alot better after that. it idled bad before i did it and was had on starts now she is like a new truck improved gas mileage and power. good luck bud o and i replace my plugs at 145,000 mile they were the original plug. i use autolight
