Hose identification help.
First off, this is in reference to my 1999 F-150 4.2L Manual, 160k, 2nd owner.
After pulling the dreaded P0171/P0174 codes from my computer, and experiencing some periodic surging, I went hunting around the engine compartment for any obvious vac leaks.
It didn't take long to locate a loud hiss coming from under the throttle body. I found a 90 deg elbow hose with a serious leak. After pulling it out and running to the local ford parts dept, they identified it as the end of the line that comes from the PCV line. Unfortunately, they don't sell just the elbow, so it looks as if I'm just going to replace the whole line since I'm paying for it ($12.00, should be in tomorrow).
The strange thing is that I found a pastic tube that seems to be for the vac system on the manifold. I'm pretty cofident it didn't just 'fall' off since I really didn't mess around with any other hoses other than the offending one. Looks to be 3/8" and 2-3/8" in length. I'd imagine that if this had really fallen off something, I would notice it pretty damn quick. So it may have been left from previous work on the truck from the previous owner.
Here's a pic of it, any ideas where it might have come from?
