Hello Folks - I seem to have a problem finding a cat back system. I have an '07, Supercab (not Crew) with a short bed, 5.4 liter. I really liked everything I heard about Magnaflow on this forum, but Magnaflow tells me they don't make anything for this combination and couldn't say if I could modify one of their kits for my application. I don't want a screamer, just a nice rumble. Would any of you have a suggestion as to who might make such an application, that would give me the same quality as Magnaflow? Thanks for any help you can offer. Bobdad
Since your truck has the same wheelbase as a reg cab w/6.5 bed, then the systems that will work on the RCSB will work on your truck as well.
Magnaflow is a good choice of systems if you dont want TOO much sound, and they are one of the best performing systems out there.
As far as warranty goes (since you asked in the email) changing your exhaust will ONLY affect fords warranty on the OEM exhaust system. Which, well, wont even be there any more! According to the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, they must show that the modification you performed DIRECTLY caused the failure of another part in question. Since you mentioned you would be having the dealer install it, I am pretty sure you wont have any issues with warranty work down the road.
For Bob Jusnes - Bob, I just looked at the Ford Truck brochure www.fordvehicles.com, and clicked open the PDF brochure in the F150 section. On page 18, they show all the wheelbases for the different models. My supecab short bed is 132.5" and the regular cab with a 6.5 bed shows as a 126.0" wheelbase. This isn't the same, of course, as you indicated in your earlier reply. What am I missing here? Thanks for your continued help. Bobdad
We sell both the Magnaflow and the MBRP. The MBRP is a little more money but well worth it IMO. It is a 304 stainless product and wont show any rust and the tips are a double wall not rolled tip. The muffler itself also has no fier packing that breaks down over time. The install intructions show you the tube that you cut to fit your w.b. The instructions dont tell you how much to cut for your config but it's easy for any installer to figure out. http://www.mbrp.com/products/instructions/S5202.pdf
Bob, what I can do is call Magnaflow tomorrow and see if they have installed a kit on an EC/5.5. That way we can get a little more insight before making the investment.
HOw does the MRBP compare to the roush (borla) systems? Sound, ease of installation, quality, ect...
Sorry I've not seen one on that application but generally Borla supplies Ford Motorsport and Roush, excellent product and well researched. Borla is also 304 stainless. With the F150 its easy to see the pipe underneath and where we are the salt climate develops a surface rust appearance on the 409 systems. The sound is very simular to Magnaflow, deep throaty but not to loud but IMO MBRP sounds better at WOT
I've used local muffler shops-trying to support the little guy-and gotten crap! Hangers breaking and bending and they tell me to quit stepping on the tail pipe. Midas has put on my best exhaust system and has a good attitude.
i use my dual ROUSH cat back out the passenger side of the truck. works great and sounds awsome. really bone head simple to install. hardest part is taking the old muffler off
I have a SuperCab with short bed (6.5'). I got a Magnaflow exhaust from performance peddler and it fit great.
I'm pretty sure it was Magnaflow part# 16614.
Thanks everyone for your efforts at clearing this up. Unfortunately, it just seems to remain unclear for now. Hopefully, I will hear something from Bob Jusnes soon.
