transmission problem
I have a 94 4x4 crew cab 7.3 idi turbo. yesterday on my way home from work the transmission statred to shift hard and the overdrive off light on the column shift lever started blinking still goes into over drive but shifts very hard and almost red line before each shift. also the blinkers quit working at the same time. Does anybody know what could cause this Please help.I looked at all the fuses and made sure they were good and not looose.

Three main components to make sure are working correctly, the tach, the vehicle speed sensor (on top of the differential) and the FIPL sensor on the side of the injector pump. Check for loose or broken wires, corroded connections. If tach and speedometer are normal, the FIPL could be the faulty part. See post under Hard shift for info on checking the voltage output on the FIPL, should be 1.05 to 4.3max with no dead spots between idle and wide open position, key on engine off check.
If that isn't it you will need to get a Ford OB1 code reader and check for fault codes, cheap- 30 dollars at Walmart with book, codes, etc.
