Well, I know the E40D involves probably two or three different electrical connections as well as, I would think, a different lenghth and mounting type than the C6. Will a E4OD mount to a 351? I would think so. The 302's of the 90's had E40D's behind them, so I wouldn't think the 351 would be different, but don't take that for a solid answer.
And, I'm not so sure your 351's flex-plate would bolt to the torqe converter directly. I really don't know, I've never pulled a C6 or an E4OD yet.
Just my thoughts. Might wanna' take this question to the tranny or 351 forums.

i know this is mixing chevys and fords, but the only od tranny i know of that doesn't involve electronics is the 700r4. i've heard this is a tough tranny when built properly or the right year is used and i've heard the adapter plates are almost unlimited
