Have any of you installed cab steps on your 80-86 F-Series? All I've found looking around is this universal step from JC Whitney. Link here. It didn't have any reviews and I'd really rather have brushed aluminum than chrome which I'm sure will start rusting shortly. The one they say will fit my '83 is the 11-1/2" wide chrome plated step which fits "most pickups and SUV's."
I have used the aluminum CARR brand steps that look like the top pic you posted. I actually have 3 of them in my garage right now, 1 aluminum and 2 black, but the paint is all but gone. I think they are still aluminum, might look good if they were cleaned up. I have nerf bars now though.
i found mine on ebay really cheap for my 84 only 170.00 and they look great took about 45 mins to put on mounts right up no drilling ..... came in 3 days per ups...
If you have a checker/Schucks/Kragen around, the stores around here usually have a set in stock for about $50. They are a pretty universal installation too.
