Engine, Carb, Gas?
I just had a 460 built and installed in my 79 f250 supercab. The engine came out of a 71 lincoln, I kept the 10.5:1 compression, bored 30 over, comp extreme 4x4 cam, weiand stealth, street avenger 670, comp roller rockers, L&L headers, flowmaster mufflers and 3inch exhaust exit behind rear wheels. All of this was done at my local performance center. When I got it back It seemed alright, not great, but after about 300 miles of taking it as easy as I could it started to surge. I took it back to the garage and they said that it was in the carb and that they didn't know enough about the new holley so they sold me a carter. Got it back and it seem alittle better, still not great. We checked the timing and decided to advance to 12 btdc(I live in Colorado) which seemed to help a great deal. Recently it started to surge again under acceleration, like it would not get gas then get gas. I also notice that when I put my hand over the exhaust I can feel some moisture. What do you guys think? I've got a ton of $'s invested in this thing and I'm about to drive it over a cliff. One more thing, it's got an annoying vibration at low rpm's.
