Just got a superchip installed.. its set at Tow Safe.. just got ETG gauge and Im reading at 8000 at idle and between 10-12 cruising with NO load.. put the pedal down a bit more than that and it gets to 1400!!..
Does anyone else have this problem with thier superchip???
Im gonna set it back to stock and see if that is the problem.
Should be less than 400 at idle. No load 70mph cruise 800-900, depending on grade, wind, and ambient temp. 1400 would be a HOT tune at WOT. This is my experience.
I've been around gauges that show that kind of egt's. I'm not so much your tuner, but your gauge. Did you have the pyro before the chip? I had a buddy that borrowed my tuner when he got his gauges installed and was talking about how hot of a chip it was. Turned out that it was his gauge/thermocouple was overreacting.
I think its the gauge.. I went to go set the chip back to stock setting and noticed that when the truck was off.. the gauge was pinned at 8000. Turned the truck on and the reading went back to around 2-4000.. Drove around town and noticed that it never really got above 10 unless I was really standing on it. Seems to be giving accurate readings now however Im a bit concerned stil as when a turn off the truck the gauge stays at the last resting degree reading (i.e. 4-5000). Turn the key again without turning on the engine and the gauge resets back to zero.
Is it normal for the EGT gauge to stay at the last reading and not fall back down to 0?
I hope that the tech installed it did it correctly. I had a well know deisel performance shop do it so I have no reason to believe they would do a hack job.
