Auto Dimming Rearview Mirror
My father just picked up his brand new 2007 FX4 F150 last week. (He blames me, b/c he loves me 04' FX4 Screw so much, hahaha) Anyway...my truck has the auto dimming rearview mirror. His does not. However, his truck DOES have the wiring harness at the mirror...it just seems to be plugged into a blank box into the regular mirror. If he was to buy the automatic mirror from Ford, is this a plug-n-play thing I could install for him that the harness is already powered up?? If not, does anyone know what fuse I need to install?? Also...any idea on cost?? I havnt seen this as a "add on accessory" for Ford. I'm guessing around $200. Thanks guys!!

Ford offers 4 different versions of the interior mirror, starting with the base which has just the auto dimming and compass up to the one with Homelink and temp. The base one is $235 and the top one is $425. They recommend dealer installation but I don't know why you shouldn't be able to do it yourself. This link should take you to the the accessories then click on Interior in the upper left under 1. "Choose Type" then under 2. "Choose Category" pick Mirrors and under 3. "Choose Accessory" select Show All.

My '05 rear view mirror has a wire going to it, but dont know if it does anything special. With a shell on the truck with front and rear tinted windows and rear cab window, not too much high beam light comes to the mirror. Didnt buy the truck new, so dont know which one it is.
