Trying to decide if I need to take my truck in to get checked out, it seems real sluggish of the line, even when rolling in the throttle, I don't feel the boost till I hit about 2k, I experimented doing a power brake and only got to 10psi at 1800 rpm is this ok? I can see the turbo gauge start to climb at about 1200, It has been this way from day one and wondering if the vanes may be stuck. My '05 was quicker off the line. Also wondering if it could just be the product of having larger tires than my '05, my '06 came with 20" wheels stock.
That is a little low, but then it may be normal for that year (I don't really think it is normal). It's possible that your 20's make it more sluggish off the line, but I don't think that would keep your boost that low. Maybe some others will chime in with their experiences. I have an 04 and even with the bigger turbo I've only been able to boost it to 15 on a back brake one time, but I've seen others post where they could get 15-18 very easily at the strip.
I had the same problem. It was scary to pull out in front of traffic. Took it in to the dealer and they said the vanes on the turbo were stuck. I've also heard that low mileage trucks that sit alot really have this problem as well. I got a new turbo and the problem is gone.
My 2005 250 has recently within the last 3k begun farting and does not seem to boost properly. I also do not get any codes or check engine light. After reading quite a bit on this, I am beginning to worry about overboost and then lifting the heads. It NEVER did this before and I have 105k miles on it. I think I might just get a Stage 1 and replace it. A Penny for your thoughts?
I had some issues when pulling my 16' enclosed trailer. I pulled it from Maine to Pennsylvania and back and was getting 8.5 - 10.5 mpg with just two motorcycles and some of my tools in it I'm guessing somwhere around 5000 lbs. i have only pulled this trailer around town since I bought it a few months ago but that seems like awful low on the mpg's. I had it programed with a preadator on the economy setting but the check engine light popped on on the last half of the trip so I deprogrammed and the light went out. Truck just seems sluggish and not right. Plus my clutch fan kept kicking in alot.
Ive also suffered a 3 mpg loss in economy lately and more turbo fart than usuall,no cel yet, I'll do atleast one more tank of fuel then maybe take it in and see what they say.
