alt replacement
my wifes 01 ranger has a 4.0 sohc auto offroad.the alt went kaput and i need to replace it (after i get back from hospital). my ? is if i unhook the battery till friday will it mess up any computer stuff besides the radio/clock? ive herd stuff about if ya dont keep power to new vehicals itll mess up stuff.i know my 92 wont just not shure about anything 2000 or newer. thanks ya'll

Naw!! Don't worry about a thing mate. Guys routinely unhook the battery to cleat the computers 'learned patterns' when they change a bad component or two. If you don't, the computer uses old data with the new component and can have problems.
When you do hook everything back up, just let it idle for a few minutes so that the computer can relearn the idle patterns(it generates a 'table' of reference), then just drive it like you normally do.
