Wink

I did it several times untill the fluid was clear (after actioning the steering between them), but in other post, I think TJ said to disconect the return hose and in that way you can flush it, check it out.

I am going to suck out as much as I can and then disconnect the hose that goes from the PS pump down below. Is that the right hose because of gravity I assume? Of course I have no idea how much it will hold with new fluid. I have a new bottle STP PS fluid but it's only like 16 oz. When refilling do I add a certain amount then start engine and turn wheel back and forth stop and check and repeat?

I'd recommend using ATF in it like the owners manual says instead of that clear power steering fluid. Most of those have seal swelling agents in them, smells like brake fluid.
If it ain't leaking don't try to stop it I guess, Just change the fluid a couple times a year.
I've always used type F in all my ford power steering units BTW. Never had one go bad on that. I know up to 91 called for it but I think the 97's call for mercon.

Well it is too late because I already refilled with new power steering fluid (STP/Prestone). Dang it, it seems there is no concrete answers to some of my simple fluid questions. If I ask something It seems 10 people give 10 different answers and they all sound right. I guess I just need to pick each time and just hope it works.
