Headers and Short throw

Well i just bought a Bronco II off my brother for $50 haha. Its inspected and runs fine. It is a 1987 Eddie Bauer with 2.9l v6 and 5 speed. I want to add headers so i was wondering how the pacesetters would do? and how difficult is the installation? also is there a short throw available for the 5 speed in it or not?

The only short throw shifters I know of or have seen on summitracing.com, if I remember right, are for 2wd trucks, but I didn't think there was a difference (?). You'll probably have to look and see if you can find one.

Pacesetter makes a good header set-up and so does JBA, IIRC. Pacesetters are cheaper, though, if I remember right. You can probably just get the 2WD headers and have a custom Y-pipe and exhaust done up at a local shop or something, if you wanted to. Installation of headers can be a pain in the rear, sometimes things don't always line up and you have to work with things to get it done (I went through this on my Nissan). The biggest issue with pulling off the old manifolds and Y-pipe are the bolts that tend to rust up and break. Once you get that tackled (pull the Y-pipe first...), the rest of it is a matter of fitting everything in and getting it all put together. Hope this helps.

yeah the pacesetter system comes with a y-pipe...im not sure what kinda bolts to buy though for the headers. and i have plenty of time to get everything done because i still havent gone to get my permit yet which means it will be at least 6 months before i NEED it to be done. i am redoing the whole fuel system from tankstraps to the injectors, the ignition, and exhaust(obviously) and will also be putting a james duff lift and 30" or 31" tires on some black cragar wheels

You should be able to use stock exhaust manifold bolts, which should be available at any parts store. How much are you looking into wanting to spend on the truck? I keep finding more and more stuff that could be possibilites for "bolt-on" performance, etc. I would try to leave it as close to stock as possible otherwise.

I put the pacesetters on my b2, id recommend getting the header bolts/lock washers b/c they tend to come loose and burn out the gasket. Also when i ordered my pacesetter headers it came with y pipe but i had to add a spot for the 02 sensor. Goodluck.

There are a few online vendors I know of that sell them, or did:
http://www.performancecenter.com
http://www.summitracing.com
http://www.jegs.com

You can probably go to pacesetter's site as well:
