timing
it's 10 degree btdc, Take some sand paper and go around the bottom pull if it's rusted or clean it with some carb cleaner if it's got alot of grease all over it. Then find the timing mark and use soap stone to mark the notch in the pull to see it with the timing light.

I have had some difficulty finding a "timing mark" on the pully. I have found a rather large "notch" but no raised line as I have found on other engines. I have been told this notch is for a crank position sensor and these pulleys dont provide a timing mark. I ended up setting the timing by ear. Dont forget to disconect the SPOUT wire before setting the timing if you have a TFI ignition.

300 sixes must be the hardest motors to time. I asked the same question a while back and seems like nobody knows 100% how to time them. ha. I guess I need to go take a picture and post it here to people can tell me exactly what to line it up with and do. I've had some people tell me to unhook my vacuum advance. That would be cool but my truck doesnt have one.
