Compression psi/ratio

I'm going to be doing a compression check on my 351w +.040 here shortly. What would be the PSI of a 9:1 compression ratio motor?

it's hard to say...the cam will effect the pressure...what you want is a good even number on all 8... if you get one thats way out say 50psi low then you have a problem....just keep track and do them all,

Make sure you open the throttle all the way and remove the power from the coil....make sure you spin it enough, I like to hit the guage 5 times.

Gotcha Hemi. Do you think that Cam Research would be able to tell me the pressure since they built my cam? I didn't realize ya had to hold the throttle wide open. Good info as always.

Thanks Hemi!

You should also remove ALL the spark plugs when doing a compression test. As long as the compression is relatively even, Ford says something like within 20# of each other, then the compression is good. I would think that a good comp reading would be somewhere around 120 PSI or more.

Hope that helps some,
