yeah if you keep the civic, think off all the mods you could do to the truck with all the money you save on gas!!!

exactly, drive the civic a few days a week to save on some gas, the truck will cost you a lot more in gas!

good luck but gas is going to be the biggest problem you will face.

especially going from a civic to an f150.

that is just like my truck including the color.

change the oil and use motorcraft filter, get under the back and check for rusted shackles, drain the trans, convertor and get new fluid and filter.

get any records from grandpa that you can.

Enjoy . I'd keep the car for the long trips or buy a back up car. Course in my house the truck is the back up car. Have fun

I recently sold my truck- not enough time to use it, it just sat in the driveway most of the time. But wouldn't you know it, 2 days after I sold it, I needed a dadgum truck!! Once you have it, you'll find out how much you need it. Oh, yeah, keep the daily driver. You'll have to change your driving habits, too, or gas really will eat a hole into your pocket, especially when you are used to a quick little car that you can jump on hen the light turns green

Well considering I'm 17 I can't keep both...but this truck has been looked over by our local dealer and the transmission seals were just replaced and the alternator was replaced no rust accept a little on the body...very little rust...new shocks and tires. I'm getting a pretty good deal.

Congrats, everyone is right about the whole gas mileage thing, but its still better than driving a Civic, way better... The best tip I have as far as gas mileage is keep your engine under 1500 RPM, it just takes some getting used to...

Congrats on the truck! I drove one of those for a few months (a loaner from my Dad while my PSD was gettin' a little work) and I loved it! I had a hard time givin' it back.

So far it's been great! I'm getting a Flowmaster exhaust in a few days; I'll report back then and tell you how that goes...

just don't try and drive it like a Civic and you'll be just fine. that's a GREAT engine that will give you little problems. aside from the mileage, it's a GREAT vehicle for someone your age because its reliable, cheap to maintain, and not really fast enough to get you in a ton of trouble.

Why not? Even at 17 you should get a multi-car discount on insurance. If you work with your agent you should be able to come up with coverage that doesn't kill your wallet yet still keeps you safe and legal. It could still be less than the difference in gas. Unless you don't drive much... Then I can see it. Enjoy your first Ford. My first car was a Ford and I've had many since then. Don't give up on it the first time it needs something. They all do that occasionally. Even your Civic...
