Add-on Gauges

I have a 2000 F150 w/ 5.4L @ 4x4. I want to add some gauges to it. I want to add an Oil Pressure Gauge and a Transmission Temp Gauge.

Before I buy the gauge pod, is there a third gauge that would be beneficial to have? I was thinking of maybe adding a voltmeter or water temp.

TIA,
Matt

Water temp would be good, maybe a rear end temp? The one that I really like (this may sound lazy) is the one that tells you exactly how many gallons of fuel you have left in your tank. That way when you have to prepay at a gas station you don't have to guess and go back in to get the rest of your cash.

I added a vacumn gauge to my truck, it's handy for letting me know when I can take my foot out of the pedal because the truck isn't gonna go any faster.

Hello all;

There are four gauges that I would look into adding into the truck.

1. Oil Temp, just because your water temp is fine does not mean the rest of the moter is fine. you need to remember that most of the moving, ie friction creating parts, are oil not water cooled.

2. Trans temp, Autos do not like to run hot. Towing creates additional heat. If you know the temp you can at least make a choice as to pull your foot out and let it cool down. On this one I cheat and drive a stick shift, very difficult (and yet still possible) to overheat and burn one up.

3. Water temp, we all know the uses here. I would add one just because of the high degree of accuracy of factory gauges (or there lack of). There are reasons why people on this site call many of the factory gauges idiot lights with a needle.

4. Oil pressure, same reasoning as #3

This may sound like overkill to some but it depends on how much and often you tow. If you are not towing heavy objects regularly you could get away without the Oil temp sensor. The others I consider manditory.
