i never understood the logic behind the spacers and the swirl cut into them. if you look inside a ford truck EFI intake i dont know how any of that swirling effect could make it down the runner banging around in that huge upper plenum. Maybe if you had 8 throttle bodies and a straight shot down the runner....
Throttle body spacers do nothing for direct injection engines. Spacers were developed for carbs to help the fuel and air mix better. They do work on carb type throttle bodies, but not on engines with a fuel rail, since no fuel goes through the throttle body. Waste of money.
the air filter that comes with your truck is very good.
the ignition system is also very good.
to say that every additon is not worthwhile is not what i said.
i said that tbs is a waste of time.
of course some improvements can be made but for a certain price point under many conditions within a budget the ford engineers did a fine job.
I have done that to my '94 years ago after I got it.
Jachobs ign system, new plugs gaped wider, Jachobs wires, advance the timing a little.
I got nothing out of it. Had to put the timing back to 10deg, as the truck would ping on a uphill grade.
years latter the truck just quite one day. Lucky I kept the stock coil wire in the glove box. Swapped that, cranked it up and have been driving it that way since. Another 45K to 50K miles.
Not long ago I changed the plugs and 2 of the boots split on the Jachobs wires. They had diaelectric grease in the boots and were matilously run in their routing.
Again, Lucky I kept the factory Ford wires to replace 2 of them.
Spent a bunch of money & time. Got ZERO return for my money spent.
Oh and when I bought all that Jachobs stuff, I pretty sure it had a lifetime warranty on the wires. After all they were like $90.
I just checked the other day and it looks like Dr Jachob got bought out.
The parts now have a 1yr warranty.
