Has any one used the Edelbrock performer intake for the 351w ? I know that leaking is sometimes a problem but I'm beginning to think there may be fit problems too.I'm using the non EGA model # 2181. I've got white exhaust on the right bank, and I guess this is water entering the combustion chamber. No visible leaks though. And i'm not going through water like I was after the first install. 3rd times a charm.
I used a fel-pro gasket non valley type, with ultra grey rtv on the ends. Torqued to 25 ft lbs several times through. Can the manifold draw up on the heads?, I've heard that heads bolts are sometimes torqued an extra 10 ft lbs to offset this effect. could I have caused a head problem. The problem is more pronounced during acceleration. +
i have had a leak problem before and found that a re-torque of the upper row only helped. torque the head bolts after you are satisfied that the intake is torqued to spec. remember that more is not better when it comes to over tightening the intake. good luck
