My Father in law has a F250.....he bought used about 6 mos. ago.
He has installed a 5th wheel hitch, and has asked me to wire a brake controller.
He has no books or wiring diagrams for his truck, he dosnt even have a owners manual so I can see what fuse or relay dose what in his truck.
I was able to find a factory wired contoller interface behind the cup holder, but it seems to have no voltage coming to it.
Under the dash, and under the hood there seems to be several sockets that are wired for both relays and fuses, but the have nothing plugged into them.
Can anyone here help me determine what I need to look for?
Is there a relay that needs to be added to activate the factory interface?
Maybe a fuse or something that needs to be added?
In 01 i beleave that you have to add the under hood relay and fuse. Its a big maxi fuse 20 or 30 amp,not sure.
The male end is under the dash,as i see you have already found that.I can scan and email you the wiring directions from the paper work i have if you need it.
I have recieved the scanned image...Thank you very much.
This is exactly how the unit is connected.
For some reason the factory harness is dead.
Do you have a fuse and relay explanation for the controling circuit?

Theres a fuse you need to install under the hood.On the drivers side. Its a 30 amp fuse. Its pretty big.If you take a test light and test to fuse socket with the truck running, there will be power to one side of the socket.Thats the socket you need to use.I just dont remember off hand which one it is.
You will have to add at least one relay and Maxi-fuse to get the trailer brake controller to work. There is also another relay and Maxi-fuse that you can add to get the trailer battery charge circuit working. Both of them are labeled in the owner's guides. The relays are in a seperate housing with 4 relay connectors, under the hood right next to the big fuse panel/relay box (by the brake master cylinder). Hope you get it all figured out.
