I am. 20+ years between active and reserve. Was active duty Navy, Army National Guard and currently Air Force Reserve - I am a repeat victim of base closures. I have five years left in my current enlistment.
I did 9 in the Navy, and due to some very strange occurance, I just found out that I am still enlisted after a supposed medical separation because someone in admin screwed up! Oh well
i have 4 years active in the navy and 6 months in the army reserves. i was just wondering how many of us here are verterans its amazing how many people are and you just never know it
Jeez,my little 9 months active don't sound like nothing but I still got 2 or so years left. Active army sux if you don't like to do PT every weekday morning (Me). Here in Korea,we run. Alot.
Sigh,2010 needs to hurry and get here,Lol.
Here is something I been wondering though,When I am classified as "Inactive Reserve" do I still do the whole 1 weekend a month 2 weeks a year number or am I basicly a civilian that can be called back up? and If I am,how often does it happen?

I bet if you asked real nicely the Army might be willing to send you somewhere besides Korea.....
If you do 4 years Active, the remainder of your 8 year enlistment will be Inactive Reserve which means you aren't obligated to drill. You are still subject to recall if your MOS is really short. That never used to be an issue but in times like this....
Enjoy your time in and please, don't complain too loudly about Korea. Count your lucky stars you aren't in the sandbox right now.

Thanks.
No you don't have to report for inactive reserves. It just means that you may be called up for active duty. The last time that I remember inactives being called up was Desert Storm in 91. Where are you in ROK? I was stationed in Camp Carroll Dec 93 thru Dec 94.
to all of you active, in-active, past and present, or about to ..... i praise you for doing what so many won't. you've got an open door here in my home anyday.
An open door ya say, huh Carl?? Does the beer have an open door policy too?? hahaha
Thanks for serving buddy, and to the 10 years Nancy did......Semper Fidelis
My fault - sounded like you said Active army sux if you don't like to do PT every weekday......guess I misunderstood you.
Lol,I was saying active sux if you hate PT every morning.
But so far Korea isn't that bad. I just dread when winter gets here,at CIF they issued me so much CW gear.......But the females here don't look bad at all
