Transfer case question

On the front of my Tcase there is a plug that says PTO fill only. Was is PTO? And do I need to fill it? Also how many quarts of atf does a tcase hold?

Thanks.

Another thing. How in the world do you get atf in there? I made a mess trying to use a funnel. Ended up filling a spray bottle with the fluid and spraying it in. My forearms are killing me.

If it is a little hex head plug up by the output shaft then yes, that is the fill plug. They make a pump that you can buy for like 8 dollars that screws to the top of the bottle then has about 2 feet of hose. You can get them at any parts store or even walmart i think. That's the best way to fill it imo.

PTO is Power Take Off. If you wanted to run a gear drive winch, or a hydraulic system, etc, you would install the PTO drive on there.

If I remember right the capacity is two quarts.
