Question ABS Question

I've been noticing a vibration when braking at highway speed, I don't notice it
at the steering wheel but the trucks vibrates like driving on a small washboard road, when coming to a full stop, someone told me it's normal in the Rangers.
I have new brake pads and shoes, no work to rotors or drums, because they were Ok, that's what my shop said, so what else can do this shaking when braking, or maybe that's the way my truck is?
2000 Ranger, manual, 3.0L 4x2 xtra cab.

Did the problem come about immediately after the brake pads & shoes were replaced, or a little later????

Did you retorque the wheel lug nuts to specfication, in two or three steps, in a star pattern????

Did you then do the brake manufacturers lining breakin drive cycle?????

the rotors might have looked good, but they should have been turned anyhow. probably have hard spots and the new pads make them more noticeable.

Yes I had the problem there before the new pads/shoes, but now the vibration is worse than before, so maybe you're right the drums/rotors need some
work,.
I only feel the vibration when braking soon, when the ABS activate, if I brake easy with a light pedal there's no vibration, now my shop have to go back to step one to remove the brakes again, not a smart move!

look at the pads good, if not a lot of miles should be ok, but make sure they have no cracks or anything. depending on age you might also consider new calipers (about $20 for remans) maybe look at the rear wheel cyls also, probably cheaper to replace than rebuild.

BTW you reply does seem to indicate hardspots on the rotors/drums

Check the caliper pins to make sure they aren't bound up. They make a high temp grease to lubricate them. I had a similar problem and thought it was the rotors and it turned out to be a seized caliper pin.
