Hey, My project is finally coming to an end. I have posted about it in earlier post. Its my 1973 F-250 Highboy. The motor is a 360 2BBL with a 4 speed. Me being from michigan the body is shot, But i love this truck so far. I took what was left of my motor out. It was just a bare block 360 with pistons and the crank still inside. I had all the rest of the crap all thrown over the inside of my box. Thankfully i have a buddy who has a 360 and a 390. The heads that where in my box had the ears cracked off and they were in rough shape. So i took his 390 heads and i put new valve seals in them and cleaned them up. I cleaned everything imaginable on the engine and put a new gasket set in it. I put a new coat of high temp engine paint on it and started assembly. I now have the motor in the truck again and all my drive pullys and everything in. I ended up making a block off for the fuel pump becuase out of the 3 fuel pumps we had they were all different and i had a spare electric inline pump in my basement. So all i have to do now is wire up some new guages i got for it and install the fuel pump and radiator and get some water to her. We fired the motor up a couple of weeks ago with no manifolds on it and it was loud. We had the passengers side valve cover off because i wanted to see if everything was getting oiled. and there was not any oil being pumped. So being that the motor sat alot i took the oil pump off my buddys truck that was running a couple of weeks ago. Tomorrow is the big test to see if it will pump oil or not. But this time i have all the valve covers on and il use the guage to see what my pressure is. Hopefully she will run good. I plan on getting some bigger tires and putting a 3 inch body lift on it and making some custom bumpers. I will have pictures soon! I cant wait!
just be careful with electric fuel pumps, in case of a crash you ABSOLUTELY need an inertia switch. if you go crash the pump is shut off. the aftermarket sells them, standard motor products (sold at napa and others). if you crash without the fuel pump keeps going. that can be a bad thing. ford started using them in the mid 80's, you could get one from the salvage yard also.
