Most everyone here uses the SCT xcalII. Used for towing, economy or street performance. It is a custom tuner that the vendor "customizes" for you depending on how well or poor your first requested tunes does in your truck. Just search the forum for sct xcalII and read away, then come back and ask your informed questions. You will get opines galore, but all of them are from experiance with the product. Good luck!

I have the SCT and have loaded 4 different tunes... all but 1 were good. Mine is a new 07 6.0 and the change is obivious after you load. Very easy to use and update / change.

As I understand it, the advantage to this type (vs chips ect) is that you can re-set it back to stock and unhook your batteries BEFORE you take it to the dealer for motor issues and they won't hassle you about after market upgrades. There seems to be some disscussion on if they can tell from the injector spray pattern or not but I'm not an expert on that... seem some pics and read some posts.

All in all, I'm happy with mine. I'm hoping when I get a few more miles on it (ie. break in complete) that the mileage will improve. Even with the tuner set to economy it's not great... yet.

good luck

What do you consider great, versus what you are getting?

if you are asking me, I am getting about 12-13 mpg with a mix of mostly highway or back roads. I see lots of guys saying they are getting 3-5 mpg better than that. I'd consider anything near the 20 mpg outstanding with this size truck and the 35" tires.
