Quick question

I have a 2001 F250. Is there a harness for wiring in an electronic trailer brake? How do you select which wires to use to wire it in? I haven't even looked under the dash yet and was just hoping to get some input before I do.

Thanks,

Steve

If your truck came with a factory tow package there will be a connector attached to the dash just overtop of the transmission hump. Go to your local trailer or RV store and you can buy a harness that will plug into this that will be labled. Wire it to your brake control and plug it in.

After thinking about it, the connector I am refering to is probably located up inside the dash to the left of your tranny hump. If so you have to remove the large panel below the steering wheel and look up inside the dash to the right of the steering wheel (towards the radio). It is usually attached to one of the metal dash braces.

If you use the Prodigy or P3# or other Techonsha products you can also order the harness for plug and go. Look on the Techonsha web site for info.

I have the P3, and my F150 doesn't have the tow package.... it took me about 30 minutes to wire it in - and that's counting running the brake wire back to the plug. the instructions included with the controller are very detailed and simple to follow.

good luck and happy towing!
