I have been wondering what heads to put on my 351. Can I use the World Roush heads with stock pistons, or should I go with the Windsor J.R.'s?
Thanks for your reply

It depends, what are you going after, are you
doing a rebuild with higher performance in mind?
Are you looking for more torque, or more HP.
In other words, we need more input before we can
give you any advice on selecting heads...

so far ive used Silvolite cast pistons, a mild cam, edelbrock dual plane intake, edlebrock 600 cfm carb, msd and mallory ignition, and long tube headers. The heads im running now are stock, i was looking for some more power. Do you think that i would see a big enough gain to justify the cost of the heads? ( world windsor Jr cast iron: 399.00 each) Off the top of my head i think the intake valves are 194 and the exaust are 160, or something like that, i cant remember.
You're right about the valve sizes, but the Roush 200 heads have a bigger 2.02" intake vavle. Both will significantly outperform stock heads, and they will both live longer with better oil control. The steeper the gears you have, the more difference the extra flow will make. If you have highway gears like me (2.75), you can build a wicked motor and it won't perform much better than the stock one did, you have to have a gear that will let the engine accelerate you. I'd recommend at least a 3.55 gear, 3.90's or 4.10's are ideal, but unless you have an overdrive trans, you won't be going very fast on the highway. TK
