06, 6.0 surge problems
Heres the problem.
while accelerating or even at constant speed there seems to be a surge or pulse to the engine you can feel it and here it in the whine of the turbo, if you watch the tach as it climbs up it will fall alittle then climb then fall so on and so on,in any gear, it's way more noticable going up hill, and even worse pulling a load 7-8000 lbs. while pulling the other day the waste gate poped 3 or 4 times and the hole truck jerked, I slowed down, maintained speed and it hasnt done it again.I thought if might be running lean so I changed the fuel filters, the primary was nasty, the secondary looked good.the problems is still there but it is a little better. oh I have 16,000 miles on it. The problem was worse with the downloader,so I removed it as to trouble shoot the problem. Its not the transmission, it smooth and firm.
Thanks for you thoughts, I go the the dealer next monday, I would like to know what Im talking about when I get there.

You might try asking this question in the 6.0 forum. You'll probably get a quicker answer there.
FWIW: Don't think the 6.0 engine has a waste gate. My guess would be you have an EGR or a turbo vane problem, but I am not a PSD expert.
Also, is there a recent oil change in the equation and type of oil are you using?
Maybe Art or Ryan will move this to the 6.0 Forum for him if they are on the boards this morning.

Oh by the way I went to superlube they wnatted to charge me 15$ ontop of the oil change for lubbing my truck, I said no thanks went home did the job myself, just to find there isnt a greese fitting on my truck. Bunch of crooks
Same goes with the fuel filters, do not use will fit filters as they don't have the proper aquabloc material. You can usually get the fuel filters from your local International truck parts dealer cheaper than from Ford.
