Might be worth a look on the hinges. I'd try some rust stop primer with a color matched top coat, followed by clear. Be generous with taping off. The spray paint should cost you in the 15 dollar range, probably 20 with the tape.

I have rust in the same spot and under the plastic pieces that run on top of the box. I'm starting to get a stain running down the side and it won't wash off. Anyone know what will kill rust stains and not my paint?I won't have time to fix the rust until winter.

4DOOR: If you want you can take a clay bar and use it properly(clay bar you can get at an auto parts store and use it wet) on the rust stain running down the side and it should take it off. I have done it to previous cars for rust stains. The stain I used it on wasnt bad. Not sure for you, it is worth a try and removes the impurities from the paint. I like to do it to my vehicles at least once a year, makes the paint perfectly smooth. Oh yea, then wax the area you clayed after.
