Cleaned vs New Injectors

Hi All,

My truck is a 1986 with a little over 56k mikes on it now. Sometimes when I step on the gas its sorta stutters then goes. Do you think this may be an injector issue? I see Ford has a injector cleaning special for I think $69 or $79 but then again I see on Ebay people sell whole sets of either new or barely used injectors for the same price as having mine cleaned. If I was to buy a ebay injector what make and model does my 1986 F-150 2wd 302EFI use? I know there must be alot of different injectors so could someone tell me the make and model or serial# / part# of the injectors used in my truck.

Also, In your opinion, does this sound like a injector problem, maybe one or more a little dirty. It runs great for its age but once in awhile I get that stutter and it may last 5 seconds or 10-30 minutes. then goes away.

When a Ford repair facility cleans my injectors do they do a good enough job vs just buying a new or slightly used set off ebay?

Thanks in Advance.

well, i would first consider doing a basic tuneup: cap, rotor, spark plugs, wires.

also do a computer diagnostic and see if you have any bad sensors, which is most likely the problem.

as for injectors, mine had a leaky injector so i replaced them all. there is a great website called fiveomotorsport.com that sells the factory replacement injectors for your truck for a little over 300. I replaced mine with the bosche design 3, I did notice a significant increase in the horsepower and throttle response of my truck, however, it is at the cost of a few mpg's, i'm getting around 10 in the city currently.

good luck!
