Competition Galore

The new 900 line of trucks from GM are already here. The new Ram next summer and late fall the newly designed F-150. Major competition all around. GREAT news for we truck consumers IMHO.

yeah, Ford, Chevy, and Dodge need to put the big three back in control of this truck market before yota takes more market share from the people that don't know better and just watch tv with trucks pulling freight containers tangling over the grand canyon and think they can go out and do that....haha

Ford had a good comercial a while back(year or 2), where they took a long bed Ford F-150 and put a buch of weight in it(it may have been a gooseneck trailer or something) and it squatted a little, and then they did it on a SHORT BED Chevy and it raised up in the front, I thought that was a good marketing ploy. I think Ford, GM, and Dodge should focus on bashing the imports in their commercials, and magazine adds, instead of bashing each other(much). I hear even Mahindra is bringing a truck over here now.

Yeah i agree, i also heard that Mahindra is bring a little truck to the market for next year sometime. Hopefully Ford really outdoes themselves and the competition for this new F150 or they are gonna be in some big trouble.

I feel that Ford has a good ad on right now where they are showing the high crash test ratings of the F150 with Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs. What I believe they are missing in that ad is telling us which trucks "didn't fair so well." The guy doing the testing just says some of the other trucks didn't fair so well. I believe that Ford should be showing us the other trucks that didn't fair so well. This would be a benefit to Ford if they listed the competitors results and showed the American people which trucks they beat.

They probably didn't say because the other trucks may have been safer in another area. In the commercial they did specify head on collision driver and FRONT passenger safety, not all occupants. I don't know how the F-150 fares against the others for side impact and rear passengers, but I would say the boxed frame is the main reason it scores so good in front and rear impacts.

Yeah I knew it was good all round but it might not dominate the rest of the trucks as far as side impact and all that stuff. One or more truck may beat them at something else.

i think they said the tundra does good in whiplash avoidance from rear end impacts, but they said the F-series wasn't far behind

What imports?

Some Rams are built in Mexico, do you mean those?

Some Silverado's are built in Mexico, do you mean those?

Tundra's are built in Indiana and Texas, Titan's are built in Mississippi.

Actually I meant the trucks with Japanese names(perhaps I should have just said jap trucks) like Nissan, and Toyota, even Honda has something that resembles a truck now. Yes I know the Nissan and Tundra where designed and built here, thats a different issue entirely. Everybody knows what I meant. The trucks themselves may not be imports, but the name they carry is.
What I meant about taking on the imports was meant for you to invision something like this: CHEVY DODGE FORD UNITE!!!!!!!! With our combined American dominance we can destroy the Japanese competition, and send them back from whence they came to the realm of the small truck, before they jump into the 3/4 and 1 ton market. Then and only then we can beat each other up just like in the old days. No offense meant to anyone with this post I happen to like competition, and I also like the Titan(the Tundra is fugly), and all the not so little anymore Japanese trucks, but I would rather see them somewhere behind Dodge in sales.
