Maybe one of you guys can tell me why you're concerned with where you mount a nitrous tank, or why you want to vent it to the outside? It is not explosive or poisonous. It's no more dangerous then a bottle of oxygen. Dentists have used it for many years, and it's also found in whipped cream cans. I know many racers who have the bottle mounted right next to them. Nitrous is very misunderstood.

Heres where you're wrong, there are two grades
of nitrous oxide, medical grade, the stuff your
dentist uses, and non medical grade, the stuff
that Baskin & Robbin use to make whipped cream,
or you use in a nitrous system. One of them
will kill you. I'll let you figure out which
does what.

Explain that to my cousin, he'd listen, except
he's dead. OD on non medical nitrous...

>but even
>water will kill if too much is drank.
True, pure water will kill you, as in water
for injection, no minerals at all, and will suck
the minerals right out of your system.
My point was that nitrous is not as friendly
as you would have everyone believe. Not treating
a tank with the proper respect can get you dead
in a hurry, wouldn't want that to happen to anyone...

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Jun-02 AT 01:20 AM (EST)]rikfish, I can assure you that I will not be killing myself any time soon due to doing something stupid. I can also tell you with absolute certainty that I am not polluting the gene pool. Now maybe you can explain the personal attack against me with that Darwin award comment? Obviously you haven't been on this board long, so you know nothing about me, my intelligence, or my ammount of experience with nitrous oxide. You can stick your congratulations where the sun doesn't shine bubba.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Jun-02 AT 02:13 AM (EST)] Sauerf100s,
The Darwin Award comment was spurred by the callous comment to canzus about water also being dangerous, not by the questions asked earlier. I apologogize for the comment, it was really intended to be humorous. I missed.
Nitrous IS very dangerous. The nitrogen content is not dangerous, except it displaces oxygen..... The oxygen content is not dangerous, except it is an oxidizer, and when mixed with heat and a fuel....
Dentists use it daily, but mixed with oxygen, and at a maximum of a 50-50 mix w/ oxygen. Beyond that, it can stop the heart. Ask your dentist about his storage requirements. Also, take a peak at your building codes dealing with medical gases..... I think you'll see things a bit differently. On one other note, nitrous has been associated with spontanious abortions.
'nuff said.............
