Head/Fog Lights

Has anyone upgraded their headlight or foglight bulbs to the new PIAA superwhites? Is it a simple disconnect and connect? Has anyone heard of any durability issues with the PIAA bulbs? I really like the brightness with them but they are awfully pricey.

I have used the PIAA Superwhites and are now using the XtremeWhites in a 1996 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon. I have found the PIAA's to be unreliable. You will pay a lot and fuss with the the one-year warranty because they fail after about 4-6 months. Sylvania has a new auto bulb out that may be more reliable than PIAA, but I have not tried them yet. I will not buy PIAA again. After doing further research, I found that these "psuedo-HID-looking" bulbs do not make that much difference than the standard halogens. They do have a higher Kelvin rating, though. I find them to be more effective on dark country roads and and picking up reflective signals. And they look sweet. But overall, PIAA is overated and expensive. Try the Sylvania's as a low-cost reliable alternative. Still, a true HID system is the closest to sunlight and probably the best lighting system on the market. LED's are one to watch for, too. Hope this helps.
