ok so my dad took my ford today becuase he wanted me to remove the fifth wheel hitch out of his truck. the bolts that hold the rails down are right above the frame rails. and i cant really get a wrench on it. and when i can the pipe wont go on it for more leverage. and i cant get a impact on it even with 3 or so extensions on it. and on the driver side i really dont want to use heat because the gas tank is RIGHT THERE LOL. any ideas here. o ya and i cant cut them becuase the hardened steel carrage bolts eat the blades on the reciprcating saw. i was thinking maybe drill thru the center of it. any ideas?
is this an under bed mount system or do the mounting rails sit inside the bed? I just took my hitch out of my 2003. It is a husky underbed system. I had no problems removing the hitch. Except for the bolts that go through the frame. Just leave them there, no good to use them again, plus they are bacically studs not bolts. But there was really no issues with removal. If you have the in bed system, the bolts shouldn't be that difficult to remove. Try jacking up your rear end and let the suspension hang, may give you just enough room for a wrench. Thats what my instruction manual says to do for installation as well. Good luck!!
i was gonna try. i got fed up and went to camping world only $132 for the rail and install kit. so i just bought that. got me a 6inch drop hitch too lol.
