5.4L Oiling System

Does anyone have any problem,with a upper valve train rattle?My dealer told me it can be caused by using an aftermarket oil filter.Just wondered if anyone else had any similar experience,or,information,specifically whether the oil filter has a check valve?

I am using K&N oil filters and haven't had a problem. Is this limited to the 3v motors?
