Any NON naturally aspirated (read : BOOSTED) engine needs higher octane fuel to run. Usually 93 is the min to be safe. Anything running greater than 8 psi of boost should have 95 plus. This gets into the racing fuel range, which is why many aftermarket screw and turbo kits offer 7 psi or so. This prevents pre-ignition and detonation from destroying your pistons.
You can retard the typing, or use the MSD boost retard unit, that automatically advances/retards the timing with boost to prevent damage. With that, I don't think you need 95+ octane. You just have to have the timing right, and have 93 octane as insureance.
