Tymar filter question

O.K. I've got my entire battery cables reconnected and the unpgrade kit from Ford for the Tymar is installed. In the Tymar instructions it says "The 4" Bend is mandrel bent, meaning the interior of it retains a constant diameter throughout the pipe. This can leave small metal fragments inside. CLEAN THE INTERIOR OF THE PIPE. It doesn't tell how or what to clean with. Has anyone cleaned/done this? Please advise. Also, the Orange connector seems to work/fit either way. Is there a exact way it should face? Lastly, my material like piece where the big fliter itself will lay is really dirty. I cleaned it as good as I could but it is a rough kind of cloth like surface. Can I just put a clean piece of cardboard under the filter or something else?

Thanks as always!

For the metal tube, when its bent it can flake off little pieces of steel. Just wipe it out good and it'll be fine. And where the filter sits.. anything will work(cardboard), it'll proably be fine just as is.
