Tire Recomendations?

I have a 2000 f350 7.3 and i have a leveling kit in the front. I currently have a set of buckshot size 35 on it right now. I like the size of the tire and the lift it gives it but it kills my fuel mileage and rubs when I turn sharp right. THey are pretty nobby. Anybody know what a good tire that would make my truck jacked as possible and also give me better gas mileage along with high tow rating? (prferably low tire wear too) I would like another set of 35's but like to hear what you guys think

I have the same set up as you and am running Pro Comp AT's. This is the third truck I have had them on, to include a 1 ton CC Chevy and a 'yota 4-Runner. I have nothing but good things to say about them. The AT's have great road manners and are awsome in the dirt for an AT tire. From time to time 4-wheel parts has them buy 3 get 1 free. They look agressive enough but handle well, and are great in the snow and wet pavement too.

If you are looking at an AT tire not looking too agressive, i would look into the Nitto Terragrappler. If you want a long-lasting, relatively quiet for the tread pattern, mud rated tire, then look at the Toyo Open Country MT. I am going to get these tires in 35s as well, however not decided on my wheel choice as of yet.

I second the pro comps. I am running them and cant say enough. I have the same setup as you. They are great in ice and snow, mud too. They have a 50,000 warranty and are usa made. I am running them on 16by 10 wheels and they only rub when I really turn tight and articulate the truck alot.

My Pro Comps are 35's. Just air up a little to decrease your rolling resistance. Also, don't forget that the increased tire size will make your odometer turn slower making it appear you have driven less miles between fill ups. If it really bothers you, take your truck with the tires on it to someone who can recalibrate your speedo.

Just my two cents here. When you increase your tire size (greater diameter) it is similar to decreasing your gear ratio. Which in turn decreases recommended towing capacity. I was trying to find my chart but couldn't. However from my memory it is close to 600 lbs decrease in towing capacity per inch increase in wheel size. I think the manufacture recommends 1000 lb decrease in tow per inch increase in tire size (don't hold me to it). This will also cause a reduction in fuel mileage under certain conditions, towing being one of them. However certain tires can cause mileage reduction due to additional operational resistance. Wider nobby tires seem to accomodate less mpg's.

There is always a balance.
Better looks vs. negative towing hit
Off Road vs. smooth quiet ride.

Just depends on where you want to sacrifice. (just remember 2 cents is not worth much )

I def recomend PROCOMP tires, I have had both the AT and MUD tires on my 1998 toyota Tacoma, they were great!
I also recomend the Nitto Terra Grapplers, I had them right after the stock Firestone Steeltex wore out.

These are 35 x 12.5 x 18" Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrains on my rig. 4" lift and I trimmed the front air dam very slightly. Still getting 15mpg with occasional 17mpg bursts. Was told I should get 40K miles out of them no problem.

I just got out of my third set of Buuckshots ( all except the last got 50K miles) I wanted the Coopers but since I was getting a warranty replacement on my tires the shop manager asked if I would try a new tire. these http://www.hankooktireusa.com/produc...ail.asp?pid=22

I have had them about 6k miles and I really like this tire. Good road manners, Great looks, and not too expensive.
