i posted a message earlier about a fuel additive for my 04 fx4. not sure what happened to it, but has anyone used or does anyone use and additives to increase gas mileage?
I wouldn't count on a fuel additive increasing economy. Drag, tires, ring and pinion gears, and the weight of your right foot are all factors that can dramatically affect fuel economy.
I would imagine the amount of fuel you will save per tank will be the exact same volume as the amount of additive you put in. (I.E. if you put in 32oz of additive, you will burn the additive instead of gas, and that's 32oz of gas you won't burn...)
There is nothing you can add to gas to increase mileage. The only thing you can do is make sure you drive economically, and keep your truck in tip top shape.
I agree with wheelma1. One thing I would suggest from experiance is to use good quality gas. The extra few cents a gallon is worth more than the loss of fuel econ from using cheep gas.

Was that the crappy post about some powder. If that was you I really can't believe you think that would work. I'm sure they deleted it because it was garbage. They don't even say what kind of increases you can expect. I can't believe you wasted our time with that. You owe me five mins. of my life back.
While he may have gone about it a bit tougher than I would have... it does smell of 'snake oil'. If its too good to be true, it probably is. There is no magic bullet to increasing mileage on these trucks. What are you currently seeing for mpgs?
That wasn't extreme. I was trying to be nice . Do you really think it work if your buddy didn't sell it? Would he really say hey it does nothing. If it really worked wouldn't he give you a FREE sample to try the mystery formula. He is your buddy. Just my $.02 If it was that great wouldn't it be on good morning america or atleast a late night info-mercial right after girls gone wild. I forgot they sold weight loss suppliments as well as a miracle formula for increasing my gas mileage. Sorry for being a bit skeptical.
Besides, if it really worked, it'd never make it to retail. One of the major oil companies would buy the rights to the formula, and start selling it in their gasoline.
Trying stuff like this is dangerous...if it were to clog up your fuel injectors, foul up your O2 sensors, or mess up anything else, the huge repair costs would never be covered under warranty.
