The 302 was used in the trucks before '79, so yes, you can make it work and look like it was made to be there.
However, the eletronics will be a bugabear. You will need EVERYTHING to make it work though, from the donor truck.
Wiring harness, sensors, fuel tank and pump, you name it you will need it, so be prepared to keep the donor truck around for a quite awhile.

Garbz2 did this with an '88 fuel injected 460 into a '64 or '63, and was successful - but not without a great deal of frustration.

There will be issues with the electronics and the transmission, too - but others more knowledgeable than I can address those gremlins.

The 92 is a little tougher than the eariler harnesses to work out. with how it enters the cab verses the eariler harness.

I used the entire wiring harness including dash in my 64 "Christine" It was a pretty straight forward swap with the exception some minor details.

The 92 harness will have a crapload of extra wiring but should be along the same principal. USE the ENTIRE harness and re wire your truck while you are at it. I even went as far as to use the stock fuel lines and pump.

Pay attention to the placement of sensors and the orententation.

I also used the exhaust system off the 88 to make it easier to hook up the O2 sensor.

Purchase a hanes manual for the 92 as it will have diagrams of the entire wiring harness along with the color codes.

The trouble John Alludes to are the MAP sensor and how it mounts. I could not get the truck to idle correctly. The Sensor needed to be placed like stock, I had it mounted vertically on the firewall. Once i relocated it, it idled fine. Oh and dont stand in front of the truck when first starting and running it. "Christine" pinnned my son to the back wall of the garage, breaking both of his legs. It surged in RPM and over powered the brakes. 472 cubes will do that.

I have around 12 thousand miles on the truck since the build with only minor problems of a bad ground and a bad battery. Just did a round trip to So Cal of 700 some miles and didnt miss a beat.

9" rearend.
9" rear end in a 1992?

No such thing. The last 9 inch was used in 1987.

If it's an F150 or a Bronco, it's prolly an 8.8.

1969 was the first year for a 302 in an F Series truck.

Pay attention to the main harness firewall break connection. Its a fairly large bugger on the 92s finding an area below the master to bring it in could be a problem. The 88 i used has a 2 1/2" diameter round type connection.

Pm me for moral support when doing the swap.
