exhaust question
hey guys i just had 5'' exhaust put on and i wanted the shop to do away with the muffler. The guy at the diesel shop told me that doing away with it i would loose hp because there was not enough backpressure for the moter I have had the stock exhaust and no muffler for about as long as i have owned the truck and i never saw any differance with a loss so was this guy just feeding me a line or is there some truth in that

i can't say forsure but, i think some folks with 5" and no muffler think that they loose alittle torque on the bottom end. some say they can't tell any difference. i'm sure someone will be along soon to help.

I have not noticed any loss of power at any RPM without the muffler. If anything you will gain power for having a free flowing muffler less system, plus with a tuner and gauges you can tune it up even more.

I doubt with having a 5" exhaust you would see any difference in back pressure with or without muffler
an 855 cu in engine has very little back pressure with muffler a 444 cuin would have a bunch less
