Hey how doing.
I would start by getting the computer scaned by a AutoZone or other store to check for codes. You could change parts till you had a new truck and still not fix the problem. My guess is that you have a coil pack or wire gone bad, with that many miles. You might have a bad plug also, it happins. Let us know what you find. Best wishes
If it was missing and the check eng light came its likely that it is a cylinder miss firing. Its a common fault at around your mileage. Have it scanned and see what the fault code is. The code will indicate which cylinder is miss firing. As you found out, changing the plugs aint any fun but its what you may end up doing. Did you use Platium Plus plugs when you changed them? The Motorcraft # for your application is AWSS32PP.Gap is .054. A PP plug MUST be used, a standard AutoLite or Motorcraft plug wont last long. Also the miss firing may be caused by a bad plug wire. Dont know if you have changed them yet but at 100,000 plus miles, its time. The plugs as you know are in a well, check for water or oil in the plug well. When you replace the plugs and wires put some di-electric silicone grease on the plug connection up inside the boot and some around the lip of the wire boot where it meets the engine. This will keep out any water. Good hunting and post back.
