any word on the video of the place? that sounds like it has the most potential to figure this whole deal out if it shows anything.

Here's a possible way to tie the spare tire to what may have come from a dealers inventory. It's possible that the same info that is on the tire sticker may match another new tire in the dealers stock. If so, what would the odds the tire DIDN'T come from the dealers stock?

Good call Bill. I hope he don't get the stock spare dirty till he gets the coppers to check it out. I figured you would come up with something do do with the stickers Bill. But I never thought of anything that easy.

If the spare came on the truck from the factory, the DOT production numbers should all be the same, including the spare. Look around the lot at employees trucks. Find one with Harley wheels that don't belong on a non Harley truck, then compare the DOT numbers to yours.

Engrave your DL # on the back of the rest of your wheels next time you take them off.

Call ford for copy of invoice

I CAN find out who the original dealer was, contact THEM and see if they still have any paperwork on it.

Good idea, thanks!
I forget the number, but if you call Ford they will send you a copy of all standard and options that the truck came with (built list). If the truck was ordered and the option was installed at the factory, it will be on that list.

No way.

My expensive spare is gone and a standard Ford factory stock spare was put back in it's place. I'm out over $820 worth of Harley rim and 18" tire.

It happened while at the dealer...plain and simple. I'm not backing down on this either.

I'm going to call the police today and see how the investigation is going and if they've reviewed all the security tapes.

THAT was one of my first suggestions.

The dealers service manager told me that every part on the truck has a serial number/zebra code sticker and can be traced. Using that logic, I told him GREAT, then take the bar code sticker off the stock spare that's in my wheel well NOW, scan it, do whatever you need to do and find out where this stock factory ford spare came from and who's vehicle it was originally installed on.

He made no attempt to do this or even agree with me that it could be traced in this fashion....which leads me to believe he KNOWS he has a thief in his employ and could care less or is trying to cover up.

Of course.

I have the original window sticker copy and in the options column it clearly shows an EXTRA Harley rim and tire.

EXCELLENT SUGGESTION!

When I get home tonight I will look underneath the truck and see if the swapped ford factory spare has a production date on it!

Thanks!

You don't need this A-hole, just get the bar code, and have another dealer run it for you. The bar code scan will lead to a Vehicle Identification Number.
