Pop off the console, remove 3 screws holding the display, unplug the wires, do all of this carefully as you might drop a loose resistor. Take out the electrical board and look for flat resistors that have numbers on them. Check the solder and chances are you will find your problem.
Cheers Derek
It tells you how to enter to the console etc, he has all the pics too.
I fixed mine and the problem was: bad solder in 3 of those SMT resistors. Heat up the solder iron (pretty small one!) and in five minutes it is up and running again.
Be carefull when you remove the console, the loose resistors may drop out, you don't want to loose them if you're not a electronic geek
Found that someone had already been into mine and one of the resistors chips is missing. Another one was about to fall out. Any Idea where I can get a new resistor.
Looks to be a # 680 missing based on the photos from the write up above.
If I can't get the resistor any source on a new or good used circuit board???

It is, or was, probably still in there somewhere. If it gets upside down it can be a pain to find, but is likely somewhere in one of the housing pieces you took apart. If it is all the way gone you'll have to solder in a regular resistor.....68 ohm.
I believe these resistors are 68 ohm resistors not 680. 680 is just the type print. To make you feel more comfortable take an ohm meter to the loose one and you should see the true value. The instructions give above work well. Mine was dim on the edges and you could tap on the screen and it come back to life. My problem was one of the 680s to the right of the three mentioned in the document listed above. It was the one closest to the connector. When I pulled mined down the solder fell out and the resistor was hanging from one side. I touched up the rest of the resistors while I was in there.
Ooops, forgot to reply to the wattage. If they have a 68 ohm resistor for 1/4 watt you should be fine. I also looked at my electronic cross reference data sheets and it says that at 680 type resistor is 68 ohms. It didn't mention the wattage though.
