Another rear window problem

I can't get my rear window to roll down on my 1980 Bronco. There is absolutely no noise coming from the motor when either the switch or the key is turned. Does anyone have any ideas where to check before I retrace the entire wiring?

pull the cover of the insde of the gate, use a test light, have a friend work the switch. If nothing, then check out your dash switch with the test light. You could use a long jumper wire once the tailgate cover is off to run power directly to the motor to roll it down to figue out if the motor is good. My 85 is missing the key switch, and we had a nightmare trying to figure out the wiring to eliminate that from the system. We got it to be all functional from the switch and it quit again a week later. I ran a pair of wires out the little hole up by the handle, that are wired to the motor, and I just touch them to the battery to roll down the window and reverse them to roll it up. I know that is a pain, but it works and didn't cost me anything.

try pushing aganst the tailgate on the drivers side while someone holds the switch. there is a safety switch inside the driver side latch and if your strike bolt bushings are worn/missing it might not close the switch. I have found that is the most common problem with the rear window so start there and see what you find

I figured out the problem. The ground wire behind the driver side kick panel was disconnected.
