I use the SuperChip and like it a lot. But the OBD-II tool was something that I was wanting. So when FTE advertised the SuperChip program with the OBD-II tool I bought it. I went ahead and removed the SuperChip and drove the truck. Dooogggie. I then went ahead and installed the SuperChip MicroTuner and used the default SuperChip program.
Now that's more like it. I'll wait a bit before I mess with the parameters on it.
I really like the tunability of the device and the OBD-II tool.
It is the tool I have been wanting and it is nice to get it from a source I trust.
It took about 10 minutes to save the stock program and install the 'Chip program.
The superchips site do not say a lot about how to run it and what options it gives you in detail. Did it tell you your PCM code when installing the superchips program? Any other tips or impressions you can pass along?
I don't recall it telling me what the code was. But then I wasn't looking for it.
When you install the chip program it saves your stock set-up to it's memory and then ereases it from your truck's computer. It then asks you if you want to install the regular SuperChip program or if you want to do a custom installation. Once you do this, the programmer will only work for that VIN of vehicle. The OBD II can be used on other vehicles though.
The custom option allows you to set each of these areas to your taste:
Shift points
Speed Limiter
Edit Tire size and gear ratio
At each of these you can select the SC setting or tweak it to your taste.
I thought it was pretty simple and easy to use. The instructions are easy to read and they explain how the changes will affect performance.
