New Driver Side Hub

Hey all. Just wanted to let everyone know that replacing the hub assembly isn't to difficult. The most time consuming part was transferring the four studs from the old hub to the new hub. I just double nutted the stud and drenched it with WD-40 and they came out pretty easily. My dad is working on taking the old one apart to see if it is possible to just change the bearings. I'll keep you posted.

I got mine from NAPA - it costs less than the dealer's and it has a lifetime warranty on it! Can't beat that - even if it doesn't have the studs...

When I replaced mine, I priced NAPA (w/studs) but it only had a 12 month warranty. How did you get a lifetime warranty?

No clue.... I heard through this forum that they gave it with their F250 hubs...and I got it... that was about a year ago maybe? Mine has the wire ABS sensor in the front (they sold one with and without) I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Ouch! I got mine at a place called Berrodin Auto parts locally. $217. NAPA wanted almost $600 (retail). Ford was a little over $400. Later hub, no mounting studs, ABS wires tied up out of the way. Non-ABS hub was $70 more. Go figure.

I paid right around 325 form the dealership. with the ABS wire which worked out great because my other wire was ripped in half so I just swapped it over and now my ABS light turned off. I didnt ask about a warrenty though. I'll have to look into that. I called two NAPA's and one said 420 and one said 488 so i went with the ford one since I knew for sure it would be the right one and for less money.

EDIT: I also forgot to mention mine was for an early production 1999 F350 which is somehow different then F350's built after march 2nd of 1999. I never did find out the difference.

I believe I know why they only are doing a 1 yr deal on the warranty. They were giving me a discount based on me working for a large utility. The account they used was a fleet account, therefore probably a commercial use warranty. It reduce the price from list $675 to $316 w/ studs and abs. Ford wanted $380 which was not bad.

I ended up having a local shop do the work for the part of $320 and $100 labor and it was done in 2 hours (charge 1.9 hrs labor vs Ford 2.5 hrs). So anyone living in Citrus County, FL., PM me and I will give you the shop's name. Hard to beat cussing and sweating for $100.

With all this being said, I bet I have the lifetime warranty as they got the part from NAPA, I followup on it.
