I,ve decided to put a Magnaflow muffler on my '03 SD 5.4.I have been running just the cat,and then split out the rear.Sounds pretty good, exept when pulling my 22' enclosed car hauler..So thats why I'm going back with a muffler. My question is this.Magnaflow has two mufflers that are 3" in and 2-1/2" out.One is 18" long, and the other is 28" long.I know longer is better in SOME cases..But what about mufflers?Torque is my main concern.I think I hurt it, with not having a muffler.Any help would be great.
The general rule of thumb with mufflers is...the longer it is, the quieter it'll be. I assume it's a straight through muffler, since most of Magnaflow's are, and on straight-through big-case mufflers there isn't much of a flow restriction...so usually the extra length just means it's quieter and not much else.
